Profile
About
Scientist: My research interests include the human microbiome in health and disease, with particular affinity for the skin microbiome, pediatric atopic dermatitis (eczema), food allergy and iron deficiency anemia. I'm fascinated by the role nutrition plays in health and disease progression. My research integrates clinical trials, big data and advanced analytic pipelines to help uncover some of life's small mysteries.
Innovator: Emerging technologies and mature scientific advances are prime for translational research innovations. My past and current projects include a novel food packaging system to extend the shelf life of fresh produce, identifying a unique genomic signature of atopic dermatitis-associated Staphylococcus aureus, uncovering the cutaneous microbiome signature of obesity, stratifying risk for food allergies and eczema using artificial intelligence algorithms and using a smartphone camera to allow blood component monitoring with machine learning image recognition technologies.
Entrepreneur: I believe in bridging the distance between industry and academia to bring translational innovations to market and to serve the purpose for which they were conceived. At MyOr, I oversee the research, development and deploment of novel health-tech tools by leading a multidisciplinary team spanning the fields of data science, clinical trials, regulatory and quality affairs, research collaborations and product development.
