Shakshuka Recipe (Eggs Poached in Tomato Sauce) for Babies (7-12 Months)

Shakshuka, a dish that originated in North Africa, has become a favorite in kitchens worldwide. This baby-friendly version features eggs gently poached in a rich tomato sauce, offering a flavorful and nutritious meal for your little one. Plus, it’s a dish the whole family can enjoy together!

Ingredients:


  • 2 tomatoes, peeled and grated

  • 1 clove of garlic, peeled and minced

  • 5 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 eggs

  • ¼ cup parsley, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1 zucchini or carrot, grated

  • Salt and pepper, to taste


Instructions for Making Shakshuka recipe:


  1. Heat the Olive Oil: In a large frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.


  2. Cook the Vegetables: Add the grated tomatoes and zucchini (or carrot) to the pan. Cook until the vegetables are soft and the tomatoes have broken down into a sauce.


  3. Season the Sauce: Stir in the salt, pepper, and sugar to taste. Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to blend.


  4. Poach the Eggs: Using a spoon, create two small wells in the tomato mixture. Crack an egg into each well. Cover the pan and let the eggs cook until they reach your desired doneness.


  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the top before serving. Let the dish cool slightly, then serve it to your baby, making sure the eggs are soft enough for them to eat.
